Peace Fest 2019 at the Science of Spirituality Meditation Center reflects on and celebrates the message of Peace!

On June 29, 2019, The Science of Spirituality, in collaboration with the City of Columbia Heights, the Police Department, and several other local religious and community leaders, organized Peace Fest 2018.   The goal was to reflect on and celebrate Individual and Global Peace through Meditation, Service, Art, Food, and Culture.   Along with several fun activities, the Fest featured a Peace Symposium where a diverse panel of speakers, including the Columbia Heights City Mayor and the Chief of Police shared their views on how to bring Individual and Global Peace.  The Mayor called for everyone to work together and bring peace in their neighborhoods and the city.  The Chief of Police reminded us that the role of Police is to be the Peace Force. Other leaders shared how peace is not just a lack of strife, but a dynamic force that brings everyone together in love and harmony.  The panel agreed that Peace could be achieved individually and in the world when we start with introspecting ourselves and serving the community with love and compassion.  Also, using the highest principles of non-violence and love, which are embedded in all major teachings,  and seeing unity in diversity will help all of us experience and foster peace.

In addition to the Symposium, the Fest also featured a Peace Art & Essay Competition, Meditation sessions, Yoga, cooking demos, family and children activities and live music.  Many varieties of deliciously ethnic food were available to enjoy.   Several children and teens were recognized for their art and essays, expressing their views on a peaceful world.   Everyone who visited appreciated the calm and peaceful environment the Science of Spirituality Meditation Center provides to practice Meditation and community building through service to others.  These are the true foundations of individual and global peace.
